| Weston at five months |
With the exception of a continued cough and a second ear infection, this month has been pretty good. Weston is getting so big, he weighs 16 pounds now. Developmentally, he isn't doing a while lot of new things...he rolls over from his belly to his back once in a while (but he's pretty lazy about that), and he loves the exersaucer. Thankfully our neighbor let us borrow their's because Weston gets pretty bored in the swing nowadays. And pretty much anything he can get his hands on goes in his mouth...with a few fingers or a whole hand :).

Last week I had this crazy idea and decided to see if he would breastfeed. Up until now I have been pumping about 5-6 times a day because Weston never could latch and breastfeed. We had kind of a rough start because I was on mag when he was born then I got pretty sick, and adding that in with the fact that Weston was a tongue thruster didn't help. So, the other day I put him to the breast to see what he would do (we haven't even tried this in well over 2 months), and he latched perfectly and breastfed for the first time!! So for any determined mommies our there who are pumping exclusively, hang in there and try again. I work closely with our lactation consultants at the hospital and the clinic..I'm part of a breastfeeding task force that is trying to increase exclusive breastfeeding at UK, so when things didn't go as planned in the beginning I found this a little ironic. But now I'm breastfeeding when I'm home and it is so awesome (I love washing less bottles and pumping less...and Weston is so much cuter than my pump). We still haven't tried any solid foods yet, but in the next couple weeks I think he'll try some rice cereal and we'll see what happens.
At school, Weston had his first school pictures...and they were really cute, but his little combover was just too much for me, so this week I gave his hair a little trim. This is not easy to do while baby is awaky lying there trying to watch what you're doing and wiggling the whole time. It's not perfect, but I think he looks pretty darn handsome.
