It's been a fun few weeks. Weston recovered quickly after he got out of the hospital. We had a quiet Christmas morning with just the three of us. I was actually on call on Christmas Eve, so I came home Christmas morning at 9:00 or so to find Rolland and little man just getting up and ready for the day. Weston enjoyed opening some gifts, and even though Rolland and I decided not to buy any this year, he had plenty to tear in to. I think his favorite is the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse ride-along car that Rolland's parents bought him...of course it makes great noise and he has discovered that you can store stuff (like coasters...every kid loves them) under the seat.
On the Wednesday after Christmas we packed up and headed to Louisville to get on a plane to go and visit my Mom and Jay. My brother Nic, sister-in-law Kim and Lucas were all going to be there too when we got there (which hasn't happened in a while, so we were all pretty excited). Weston did pretty good on the plane. Remember he had tubes put in his ears the beginning of December, so his "ears" weren't going to be a problem on the flight. The worst thing was that right about midway through our second flight was his normal bedtime...and we could tell by the screaming...which is what he normally does when he fights sleep. I'm sure the flight attendants thought we were trying to torture him by pinning him down, but we've found that if you just kind of hold him tight while he's fighting sleep...he gives up and dozes off (hey, you gotta do what works).

While we were in Idaho, we had a good visit with everyone. My mom had all the family up on December 30th and we had a huge dinner and a gift exchange. It was really great to see all the grandparents too, and even a surprise from my Uncle Bill who drove over from Montana just for the day. New Year's was quiet, we played card games with the family and went to bed right before midnight...we're party poopers. Rolland and I did finally get to go skiing, even though Idaho is having the least amount of snow this year in like 24 years (apparently it's the Jet Stream's fault), there's still snow on good ol' Lookout Mountain. This is the ski hill where I learned to ski. It's pretty cool because they have a free ski school that gives kids a lift ticket for free as long as they go to their ski lesson...then they ski free the rest of the day. I loved it when I was learning to ski! My stepdad's dad, Bill - who's 78 years old I might add, went skiing with us to make sure we knew our way around. He still skis several times a week in the winter.. Isn't that awesome? He also lent his skills as a personal ski instructor for Rolland who had only skied about twice in his life and had never taken a lesson before. We appreciated it for sure!

This was the only snow we got...on our last night

Since we've been back home, Weston is having to adjust again a little. The night we got back home we didn't get in until midnight, and with a 3-hour time difference, poor little man was all messed up. He'd go and play with one of his new toys and then cry, take a sip of milk and cry. I knew it was because he was so tired, but he just didn't want to give up...until like 1:30 in the morning when I made him go to bed. He had been home with us for pretty much two weeks, so it's always hard to send him back to school after a break like that. He's really starting to get to the point where he's a mama's boy, so it kind of breaks my heart to leave him too.
