Today we went to the Cincinnati Zoo. Now it's like the hottest day of the year, first weekend of summer break, and Memorial Day weekend...what were we thinking? Well, a day off is a day off sometimes, so we tried to make the most of it. We arrived right at 9am to try to beat the heat, but it was already in the 80s by the time we got there. First was the elephants, then the giraffes, and a couple others before we made it to the children's zoo. Weston was pretty leery of the greedy goats that were lined up begging at the fence, but he loved the mini cow that he could pet and "moo" at. After that we played in the playground and had a snack.
Now I love the giraffes, but I have to admit, the lions were pretty fantastic today...they are really pretty creatures. I was a little disappointed that the tiger exhibit was closed down. We made it to see some gorillas and monkeys before Weston began to tucker out on us...toward the end, he gave up and Rolland and I had a quiet half hour our so before we left. All together we only made it about 3 and a half hours before it was too hot and too crowded for me. Definitely a nice zoo with a good selection of animals (we didn't even make it to see everything). This sleeping beast...I mean beauty, was my favorite.
