Summer fun!

It's been a fairly low-key summer for me, I must admit.  Knowing I only had 1 month off of work to get moved, spend time with Weston and work on our house, I didn't make any plans.  Luckily we were able to hire a nanny, Miss Jessika, because I quickly realized that you can't get anything done at home with a busy toddler - especially unpacking and cleaning.  I'd unpack a box, Weston would put stuff back in, I'd put things away, he'd drag it back out, I'd clean up a mess, he'd...make another one ~and so the story goes.  What a blessing Miss Jessika has been to us already.  She comes by in the morning and plays with Weston, takes him to the pool for a swim (or a "fwim" as Weston says), comes home, gets him dressed, lunch, reads him books, and then puts him down for a nap.  All the while I've been able to unpack, clean, respond to numerous emails, study, and even have a cup of coffee in the dead silence once in a while.   Sometimes I think I'm a terrible mom for enjoying these moments to myself, but let's face it, I'm used to being away from Weston for 50-60 hours a week and being very productive, so having Jessika help out a little before I return to work for 3-4 hours a day has been awesome (and well worth it)!  Where has Rolland been you ask?  Well, he has been working on the house, working at his job, and then he took a week-long hiatus to go to 4 different major-league baseball games at 4 different ballparks with his high school buddies...nice, huh?

Last week I got word that my clinic wouldn't be ready to open until August 27th (a 2-week push back), so now I find myself having a few extra days to play with Weston, study, decorate, visit friends, and just get a little more organized in my life before I start work again.  I've been working on little projects like getting photos ordered and framed from Weston's 18-month photo session with Marissa Noe...so cute!  and I pretty much need to invade Hobby Lobby for a couple hours to try to get some framing done for artwork/prints that I've been carrying around for years and still haven't been able to get on a wall.  I'd also like to seek out some new recipes and organize my recipe book a little more.  The list goes on and on...studying (which is what I should be doing right now), seems to keep finding its way to the bottom of the list.  I take my board exam in October, but after I start work, there won't be a lot of time to just sit down and really study.  If all of this sounds pretty boring, you've probably guessed it right...but that's the way we like it sometimes.  Oh, I forgot to mention we have plenty of room for visitors now at the Blair Hotel, so we've already had 6 of my family down for a few days, and 7 of Rolland's family are coming this week (and the amazing thing is...everyone will have a place to sleep ~nice).  If you're passing through and need a place to crash, or if you just want to come and spend time with us, stop on by...we'd love to have company!
