Happy Birthday! Weston is 2!

This past weekend we celebrated Weston's 2nd birthday in style...Tractor style.  First I want to thank everyone who braved a birthday party at naptime (lunch), but wow, did we ever have a fantastic turnout.  Much of the "supplies" were purchased from Etsy and ideas I came up with from scouring the web and my new friend Pinterest

First I ordered these super-cute invitations from Etsy - actually I just ordered the PDF of the invite which they personalized for me with Weston's name, party date and all the info, then I ordered them as prints from Wal-mart for a few cents each (they even came with envelopes for free - which I didn't need because I had bought colored ones).

Next I used the same cute tractor that was on the invitations as a template to make this tractor cut-out for kids to play on and sit behind during the party, and I painted a few more of them to use as decorations for the party...including a sign that was painted on burlap that we hung on a hay bale that said "Weston is 2" with another cute tractor on it.  Rolland was in charge of balloons, little did we know that buying balloons the day before the party was out of the question.  After the poor girl at the party store blew up over a dozen balloons for us the day before the party, she asked..."when's the party?" to which Rolland replied "tomorrow".  And she kindly told him that these would only stay inflated for 8-10 hours.  Who knew?  So he had to go back to the store on party day.

The menu for the party was pretty simple and hopefully kid-friendly.  I made a pasta salad the night before.  The day of the party my sister-in-law made over a dozen PB&Js that were cut in the shape of tractors, Rolland made tractor grilled cheese sandwiches, we had spinach and buffalo chicken dips with tortilla chips, I made cute "pies on a stick", a large fruit bowl with fruit dip and pigs-in-a-blanket (that were actually beef).  We served chocolate milk and a cranberry-apple punch that seemed like a hit with the kids and parents.  Then when everyone had grazed the lunch buffet, we served cake and vanilla ice cream...with the warning that the icing dye might give their kids rainbow colored poop.

I got this tractor cake pan for only a few dollars online,
and it turned out so cute!

Drinks served in jars with these cute red & white straws

Party favors included: Brownies baked in cookie cutters,
tractor crayons and Hershey kisses

Our front doors...

Weston received way too many gifts, so thanks to everyone who gave him such nice toys and books, he loves everything (except the electronic drum sticks that I won't let him open yet from his aunt Dana).  Next year I think if we have such a big birthday bash, we'll have a toy or book drive for other kids since it's so close to Christmas and I'd really like to instill a giving heart in my little man.  All in all, it was really great to see some old faces, some new, and some very dear to us...thank you everyone!

"I'm two!"
This was pre-party day, but I just want to remember
him on his actual birthday.  Love my baby boy!
