Weston is One!!

Mmm...

Happy Birthday to Weston...Happy Birthday to you!  I can't believe it's been a whole year already.  My little stinker is changing every day so much!  Weston turned 1 year old a couple days ago.  I decided not to plan a party for him, but rather to have cake and ice cream for him with the family when they were all here over Thanksgiving.  We actually celebrated Weston's birthday on his cousin Kara's birthday (no fair, I know).  Then on Monday we went to Chuy's because Weston loves their tortillas (and Rolland and I love everything about it). If you've never gone, you have to go and have the creamy jalapeno sauce...it's glorified ranch and it's so good!

Happy Birthday to Weston!
Weston had his 12 month well child check up today.  He's 23 pounds, 9 oz and he's between the 50th and 75% for weight.  His length is 30 1/4 inches (75%) and his big noggin' is still the 90%...I hope that means he has big brains :)  His check up well good (not too much stranger/doctor anxiety...considering he's been sick so much lately).  Ears finally looked good, but he had a funny bleb on one eardrum from where it ruptures previously in October.  All total, Weston has been on antibiotics for 30 out of the last 60 days because of ear infections (3 in the last 6 weeks)...and it's not really even Winter yet.  We went to the ENT doctor last week for evaluation for PE tubes for his ears and tomorrow we will be going in for the procedure.  We have to arrive at 5:45 in the morning and hopefully be back by 7:30 for what is usually a 5-minute case.  Weston only has to have mask anesthesia, so hopefully everything will go well and he'll be done quickly.

Developmentally, Weston is starting to try to walk more every day.  Just tonight he stood up by himself and took 3-4 steps by himself before I poked my head around the corner to see...at which time he promptly sat down prevented any possibility of getting this on video. He's started to wave bye-bye finally (and it's such a cute wave!)  We're still working on words.  Mostly we just hear "Ma-ma", "da-da", occasionally we hear "ba" for ball when he plays with a ball.  I'm hoping that after tubes he might pick up a little more on speech.

look at my big boy teeth!

Foodwise, we're exploring still.  Some days little man eats great, other times he screams and refuses to eat any thing we try to feed him.  I still have some pureed foods in the freezer, but I think we're almost done with those.  Weston really enjoys feeding himself now.  Tonight he did awesome and ate an unbelievable amount (I think it's because he knows he can't have anything after midnight because of his surgery).  On the menu tonight: shredded cheese, black beans, pita bread with humus, kiwi fruit, banana.  This kid loves garlic humus and black beans!  Any hey, I love that he loves them because beans are like a super food...part veggie because they have good fiber, part meat because they have good protein.
