Grant is one!!

He really didn't feel like taking pictures for me but I at least got one where he wasn't squaling. I can't believe he's really one already (actually by the time I post this he will be 13 months). I remember so vividly a ago we had just left church (where my water broke at Saturday Easter service) and then we proceeded to the hospital...9 hours later...my little Easter surprise!!

This boy started walking 10 days after his birthday. He is now pretty much trying to run.  He eats everything, and in true Blair fashion, he likes his beans (and Mexican food in general).  We are bottle free since about 2 weeks before his birthday. I finally convince myself to stop pumping breast milk 3 days before his birthday...it was my weight loss solution.  ...and really, I did get below by pre-pregnancy weight by 3 whole pounds.  Guess now I need to start working out to keep this up.  I wish I could say he was sleeping 12 hours at night though and I am not a zombie anymore, but he's not.  No, I still nurse him and rock him at bedtime, although he is usually still awake and falls asleep on his own quickly afterward. He still wakes up somewhere between 3-5am to nurse.  I'm pretty much okay with anytime after 5am because I have to get up for work at 5:00 anyway, but 3:00? come on...I fall back asleep for like 1 hour then my alarm is going off and then I oversleep and I'm a mess.  I guess I'm just not ready to let go of nursing yet. Weston weaned himself at 13 months, so we'll see if this momma's boy will anytime soon or not.

He still says his occasional "mamas" and "dadas", and recently our nanny sent me a video with him giving a cute little wave and saying "bye-bye"...If I hadn't seen it for myself though I wouldn't believe it.  I think his official first word is "more"...because this boy always wants more food and he tries pretty hard to convince me of this every day at dinner, even if it sounds more like "mom" than "more" I know what he means.   Grant likes to swing on the new playset in the back yard. He loves to play in our little kitchen (by far the best kids toy we have ever invested in) where he can be found every day after he finishes dinner and we are still waiting for big boy brother to finish his.

Grant is wearing 18-24 months clothes...I literally packed up all the 12 month stuff last weekend because there was no going back at this point.  When I took him to Stride Rite to buy his first pair of shoes that were not Robeez hand-me-downs, they measured him at 5.5 extra-wide...good grief!  He was 25 pounds at his 12 month check up and 31 inches long. He took his shots like a man (all 5 of them...I'm mean, we're not getting measles at Disneyland next month, so he got them all) and never had a fever one.   He did however have his first ever febrile illness 3 days prior to this well child check up.  I guess it was viral. And he had never had an antibiotic until 2 weeks ago when I pulled a bad doctor-mommy move and treated him for the ever-illusive sinus infection since he had had worsening cough and cruddiness since the fever and cough virus he had 3 weeks prior.  Poor dude.  He will likely follow in his brother's footsteps and fight the Kentucky allergies in style. I started Zyrtec for him too...otherwise he becomes another snot-licking baby who coughs all night long (and proceeds to sinus infection...boo).

Check out the cuteness of these birthday pictures from Liz Thomas.  We always love going out to her farm for family pics...Weston especially, he thinks we area really going for a play date then finds out were are there for pictures and bails in about 5 minutes.  He at least got a cupcake out of the deal... Grant on the other hand, loved his cake!  A cute plain white smash-cake I made for him myself.  Glad I didn't go overboard here.  We really didn't even have a party for him. But we did sing Happy Birthday to him on his birthday night and give him another slice of cake and his new Pottery Barn Anywhere Chair.  He already knows it's his chair, just like big brothers.
