Summer vacation...Disneyland and other family adventures

So this trip was actually in June, but I didn't have a chance to sit and tell about it...until now.  We had a great time at Disneyland with my mom, brother and his family.  The boys did so great at the park, I was shocked!  We went to the park 3 days in a row...each morning hitting the gate early until lunch then getting the kids (well actually adults too) a nap and returning in the evening.  We watched the fireworks presentation at the castle one night and it was fabulous (probably one of my favorite parts).  A character breakfast with the gang was really cute, the kids loved it and all were in good spirits.  The last night California Adventure Park closed early so Pampered Chef guests could have it all to themselves and it was worth it.  Weston made it until almost 1:00am!  My mom is the Pampered Chef Lady and earned this trip and the rest of us bought in...and while there were some crazy moments with tired kids, it was really a great time.

After our time at the Happiest Place on Earth, we packed into the rental van and headed north to visit Rolland's family. We had the sweetest visit with Rolland's aunt and uncle who were kind enough to let us stay with them while we were there. Rolland's uncle was left with hemiplegia after a tragic CVA a couple years ago, and while I wasn't sure how Weston would react after seeing a different "Uncle Cliff", he was just the sweetest.  It was like you could just see God working in him and showing him how to be tender and still playing and interacting with Cliff in every way he could. It just brought tears to my eyes, and still does, to even think about their conversations and sword fights and all the toys Weston would bring to Cliffs side table.

We didn't really make it to the beach much (it's too cold to really get in the water), but we did make a couple stops a the pier and some scenic stops for photo-ops.  We went to the Monterrey Bay Aquarium where we found out that the jellyfish exhibit was going to be gone after this you, so if you haven't seen it, you're probably too late.

It was so good to see all of Rolland's aunts, his dad and new fiancée and his grandma.  While it's a long trip with two kids across the country (even flying), but they were troopers.  Everyone loved on them and our family get-togethers were just the best. I learned how to play croquet...I never realized there were so many rules.  And I found out how it feels when one of those balls is dropped on your toe (thanks Grant)...I seriously thought I had broken it for a bit there.   All-in-all, it was a fabulous trip, our kids did awesome!
