Now Weston isn't really the wake up, eat, and get ready to go kind of guy. He's more of the wake up, mull around then eat breakfast an hour later kind of kid...and that doesn't include getting dressed. So now the routine has to change. We literally bribed him with Lucky Charms for breakfast most of the week knowing that he would run right out and eat as soon as he woke up (I half and half them with cheerios...he'll never know). And I lay his clothes out the night before so he can start getting himself dressed, and he makes a decent attempt at brushing his teeth (I hope). Typically, I literally walk in his room, turn if fan off and kiss him goodbye because I have to go to work about that time, and so far that's ok.On the day before school started we had "meet the teacher night" and we went and brought his school supplies and nap supplies. Nap? Oh crap! Seriously? We literally had to make him stop taking naps about 6-8 months ago because he was fighting it so bad that when he did finally fall asleep he'd sleep 2-3 hours (so we knew he needed them) but then would stay up until like 10:00 at night. So I really hope that doesn't start all over again.
On the first morning of school Rolland and I both drove him there to drop him off. ...only because my Nanny had asked me the week or so before, "um, you're going to take him to the first day of school, right?" ....of course I am (I really hadn't thought about it at all, luckily I didn't have to full of a work schedule and was able to block and hour to be able to do this)! So when we got there, Weston got out of the car, high-fived the principal and walked right in and sat in his seat like a pro. There were kids screaming and parents crying...geesh, you'd think they were going off to war or something. This is preschool at a private Christian school...how much better could it get? Luckily for us his first couple of days went off without a hitch and since his classroom theme was Candy Land, he was on "super sweet" all week (as opposed to "super sour" like his buddy that had to go to the Principal's office on the first day). Fingers crossed that he will be a motivated learner, figure out which hand to write with (so far I think he's a lefty), and have a kind heart toward his friends. I am so excited for him to have the experience of a good preschool.
