Weston is 7 months old!

Here we go again...another month gone by.  Weston has definitely been fun lately.  He sits and rolls and is a champion raspberry blower.  I have been trying to make some baby foods for him and he's been liking them so far.  This week I made bakes pears, apples and peaches...I haven't tried to give him the peaches yet, but I have a feeling they're going to be a little tart still.  I think his favorite food is the sweet potatoes...and they are definitely easy to make and store.  Our freezer is fully of little bags of frozen cubes of pureed fruits and veggies.  I have been buying some baby foods when I see it on sale because when we're out and about it's a little easier to use these, but just this past Tuesday we met Rolland for lunch and I just took his little cubes of frozen sweet potatoes and had the waitress pop them in the microwave for a few seconds for me...perfect.

As far as pumping goes...my milk supply has pretty much tanked this month because I just don't have time to pump more than once a shift when I'm at work in the ER.  Breast milk is definitely the law of supply and demand, and if you don't get to feed or pump for 8-9 hours, the brain tells the body, "never mind...I stopped needing to make breast milk 4 hours ago".  So unfortunately when I used to be able to pump like 40 ounces in a day, now it's only 25-30.  Luckily, now that Weston in eating more food he eats less milk, but it makes me sad.  I am still trying to empty a bag of frozen milk in the freezer from January, and I somehow still have new milk to freeze every couple days.  It's amazing how obsessed you can become over a little thing like breast milk when you're a working/pumping mom.

I'm finishing up my month of ER tonight...then it's on to PICU nights. Not a great improvement schedule wise, but at least I'll be back with all my Peds friends and I'll be able to go to some lectures again.  Poor Rolland gets run ragged taking care of Weston on my crazy schedule. Sometimes I don't see them for several days except to say goodbye when they leave. Right now, all I can think about is August...vacation month!  Hopefully we'll be California bound.
