Somehow we made it from 7 months to 9 months without an 8-month blog entry...I guess that's what happens when you're in the PICU and preparing for vacation and just plain worn out. So, with that being said, Weston is an amazing 9 months old! He is so cute and getting so big. Recently he was sick with what was probably a nasty virus and secondary ear infection and when we went to the doctor he was 20 pounds! Of course I plotted him on a growth chart today at work at he is almost the 90th percentile for weight (yikes!). I'll have to wait and see what his length is to compare at his well child check-up next week with Dr. Parrott. We've had a fantastic month so far. I'm working in the Twilight Clinic mostly...it's an after-hours clinic at our Pediatric Clinic and I really like it...it's fast-paced and the hours are mostly from noon-9pm, but usually I get home sooner. Mostly what it means is that Weston and I get to hang out together in the mornings and I take him to school at about 11 and then Rolland picks him up by 6 usually, so that's a good day for him. Developmentally, Weston is trying so hard to crawl...he basically will crawl on his hands and knees - backward. He usually gets around by scooting himself backward a foot or so, then he sits up, changes direction and scoots a bit more to get to where he needs to be. Anytime he grabs on to a hand he pulls up immediately to a stand, although I've only seen him actually pull up on furniture once. He does try to cruise a little, but only if there's something good that he wants. He's been saying "Ba" and "bah-bah" for a while, but just this past few weeks he started saying "Ma" and "mum-mum"...even though it's not necessarily specific, it still warms my heart when I hear it (even if he is crying when he says it). I like to think that "Ma-Ma" was his first word, but I don't know if this really counts. Weston is really fascinated by the dog and the cat nowadays and reaches for a handful of fur whenever he gets a chance.

Food-wise, Weston is eating a few more things and this week I realized we're behind in trying meats, so I was going to give him some chicken that Rolland grilled tonight and he threw a huge fit...I thought it was because it was just gross (pureed chicken with acorn squash), but turns out he was just so tired...he fell asleep in his high chair after about 5 bites. I guess we'll try that again later. Yogurt is his new favorite food...since he was on antibiotics for his ear infection he got some loose stools, hence the yogurt - he didn't mind it at all. I washed all the sippy cups yesterday and I'm going to send a few of them to school for Weston to try to learn to use. I figure there he can have more practice than at home since he might take 1 bottle a day at home if I'm working, but mostly I still nurse him. I'm trying to start using our frozen breast milk supply...wow do we have a lot! Rolland tells me I have to clean out the deep freezer before Fall because he wants to be able to get another deer. We'll see...he may have to donate that meat.
