Occasionally I get to visit Weston at school when I have a few free hours in the afternoon that's not enough time to take him home and long enough that I can stay for a good while to feed him and play. Tonight I am on call and we didn't have clinic today...but I still had to go to the hospital this morning for lectures and to see a immunology consult in the Children's Hospital. I'm a morning person, so I don't mind coming in early and doing these things, but when I have a big hole in my schedule in the afternoon it's stinky. I certainly don't want to hang out in the resident's lounge and "read journal articles" when I can go and visit my boy for a little while instead. When I got to Weston's school this afternoon he was screaming up a storm, and I could tell that his teacher was relieved to see me...little did she know I was staying for a visit and not taking his fussy bum home. After a diaper change and about 15 minutes more of fussing, Weston finally settled down and took a little nap while I rocked him in the rocking chair. I know he didn't feel too well and really needed a nap, but I couldn't put him down, so I just held him until he woke up about 40 minutes later. Then he took a bottle and was recharged and ready to play. We were just about to try the exersaucer when we decided to put Weston down with another little boy (only about 1 month older) and let them play with this Sesame Street pop-up toy...a good use of tummy time, because by the time he gets home at night he does not want to play on his tummy. I just can't believe how much he's grown up already...it goes so quickly. Next week Weston will be 4 months old.
